In concept, the body’s energetic system is similar to it’s circulatory system; in which tissue waste is removed, nutrients are delivered to the body, hormones and white blood cells work to keep your body in homeostasis. Similarly, with reiki, the energetic system is able to remove what doesn’t serve (sometimes called old or “stuck” energy), help the nervous system consider old wounds, by evaluating and restoring perspective; replace energy lost through everyday interactions with the world, partner with Western medicine as a complimentary therapy and work to restore energetic homeostasis.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means “Divine Wisdom or Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". Reiki is "spiritually guided life force energy". Mikao Usui is the founder of his style of reiki, which was brought to the United States in the 1980’s via Hiwao Takata. Many styles of reiki exist, some include: Angelic, KA, Spirit-led and Shamanic, Holy Fire, Sekhem and many more.
The way I work with energy is to partner with my guides, creating a safe healing space for the core of reiki energy to flow; helping you heal by working on your 4 energetic layers of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. My reiki sessions are 60 minutes in length and can include drumming, rocks/crystals, vocal toning, and other things I’m guided to use for an appropriate, tailored session for you.
Reiki is practiced throughout the world, and is used in varied settings; self-care, homes, businesses, hospitals/hospice, first-responders, corrections, spaces indoor and outdoors, I continue to explore how I can use reiki to improve wellbeing of my surroundings and the people/pets who move through them.
